Standing Naked in Rose Petals

The Child realized something out of the ordinary had happened. Nothing was said by anyone in the car—no recognition at all—of anything different or unusual. She kept quiet and faced forward as the car drove past the woman. Olena turned around to look at her again, but she had vanished. She didn’t understand what had just happened, but she knew it was unusual. Was she going to tell them? Who was she going to tell? She was seven, and had a mystical experience. She kept many things quiet and inside in the early years.
—The Watcher in “The Child”

In a world where increasingly more people desire acceptance, meaning and peace in their lives, how can every aspect, expression and experience one has become valuable assets? Standing Naked in Rose Petals is Eleanora Amendolara’s answer to this question by sharing stories about key aspects of her life expressed by various voices.

My mother never told me what to expect and no one I knew ever had a baby. I remember 14 hours of poking, prodding, and nobody listening to me . . . Then, in the midst of this trauma, he said: “Don’t be a baby.” Hospital staff offered me the painkiller Demerol . . . I was traumatized by the entire experience. “Don’t-be-a-baby.” Those four words changed my life. From that moment on, I knew I would never put myself in a situation like it again.
—Eleanora in “The Mother, Eleanor”

Eleanora has been described as a unique, extraordinary healer and teacher; a one-of-a-kind individual valued as a remarkable gift by those whose lives she touches and alters.

I was working as a background actress and was on my way to “Law & Order: SVU.” I called her and she asked me how I was doing. I had seen her two and a half weeks prior and I hadn't worked in five months. I wasn’t getting phone calls. She told me there were several reasons why not, but that the next time I visit, she would open up the energy a bit. After speaking with her, I wound up with a 13 hour work day.

Standing Naked in Rose Petals tells an amazing tale of discovery, identity, and commitment to one’s true purpose beginning with Eleanora’s life as the youngest child of immigrant parents from Eastern Europe (viewed as “Russian Commies” in their neighborhood) to the “Navel of the World” in Cusco, Peru (a place described as an energetic and geometric powerhouse).

Discover why the most enchanting, magical, and rewarding life of all is using our own stories to become more human.
